Helen Britton

Helen Britton is a renowned multidisciplinary Australian artist currently based in Munich, Germany. Her artistic practice spans across various mediums including jewelry, sculpture, paintings, drawings, and installations, with her works drawing inspiration from popular culture, folk art, environmental concerns, and human emotions such as anxiety.

 

Career and Highlights

With a career spanning over three decades, Helen Britton has traveled extensively, showcasing her work across the globe. Notable highlights include her solo exhibition at the Neues Museum in Nürnberg in 2013 and a pivotal 2014 residency at Villa Bengel in Idar-Oberstein, which served as the inspiration for Elena Alvarez-Lutz’s 2021 film "Hunter from Elsewhere: A Journey with Helen Britton." In 2017, her expansive exhibition "Interstices" at The Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery in Western Australia provided a comprehensive overview of her artistic journey. In 2023, Britton completed a three-month Artist in Residence program at École Nationale Supérieure d'Art de Limoges in France before returning to her Munich studio.
