Julia Kiryanova

Julia Kiryanova, a multidisciplinary artist from Kazakhstan now based in Amsterdam, is renowned for her vibrant, expressive works that merge painting and performance, often exploring themes of vulnerability, sensuality, and the human body. Her art delves deeply into freedom of expression and boldness, capturing a mythical energy that underpins all of her creations.

Exploring the Boundaries of Vulnerability and Sensuality

Kiryanova’s pieces are more than just artworks—they are spiritual journeys, rituals of transformation infused with surreal, mythical characters. Her vivid style and expressive use of color blur the lines between reality and fantasy, probing the complexities of internal and external conflicts. Her work reflects the richness of our emotional and spiritual lives, portraying both power and fragility. Through an interplay of consciousness and subconsciousness, Kiryanova explores themes of support and fear, elevation and trepidation, creating an experience that feels both familiar and otherworldly.

Her art is a form of spiritual craftsmanship, deeply connected to heritage, traditions, and the latent powers we inherit from the past. By tapping into these elements, Kiryanova crafts transformative narratives that resonate on a deeply personal and universal level.

In 2023, she was nominated for the Koninklijke Prijs voor Vrije Schilderkunst (Royal Prize for Painting), further affirming her significant contribution to contemporary art.
