Mariadela Araujo's colourful texile installations

Mariadela Araujo is a Venezuelan-Spanish artist, textile designer, and educator based in Barcelona, whose work blends traditional artisan techniques with bold, contemporary aesthetics. She is known for her experimental approach, focusing on large-scale installations, tapestries, and functional textile designs. Her practice revolves around the exploration of color, texture, and form, often utilizing techniques such as weaving, embroidery, knitting, and crocheting.

Araujo's artistic philosophy is centered on transformation of traditional craft techniques into modern, avant-garde expressions. She emphasizes the tactile nature of her work, where the textures and materials become integral to the viewer's experience. The artist's work not only bridges art and design but also elevates everyday materials through labor-intensive handcrafting processes, resulting in a unique fusion of utility and art.

Mariadela Araujo has a diverse educational background. She studied fine arts at IUESAPAR Armando Reverón in Caracas and pursued fashion design at Accademia Koefia and IED in Rome.
