Amy Lewis
Amy Lewis is a textile designer and interdisciplinary artist working across the fields of textile design, art, and interior architecture. She has established her practice in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, following her graduation from the prestigious Design Academy Eindhoven in 2022. With a foundation in graphic design, Lewis brings a unique approach to her textile creations, blending both visual and tactile elements to create immersive, sensorial experiences.
Design Philosophy and Approach
Amy Lewis is deeply influenced by her British-Japanese heritage, which plays a significant role in her design process. Her work often reflects a fusion of these two cultural sensibilities, with an emphasis on narration and storytelling. Instead of dismissing traditional craftsmanship for modern innovations, Lewis seeks to preserve and reinterpret historical textile techniques in contemporary contexts. Her mission is to bring joy to everyday life by highlighting the beauty found in the mundane, crafting textiles that transform the ordinary into something extraordinary.
Through her use of traditional crafts, she aims to create designs that engage multiple senses, evoking emotional and tactile responses that bridge the past, present, and future.
