Studio Kloumi

Biography

Studio Kloumi

Studio Kloumi is an interdisciplinary design studio founded by Clémentine Buffa, a French artist born in Nice. The studio, based in Eindhoven and later relocated to Maastricht in the Netherlands, is known for its unique creations that oscillate between art and design. Clémentine Buffa draws inspiration from the textures and irregularities found in natural elements like minerals, which she translates into her handmade, metal-based furniture collections.

Studio Kloumi's pieces often emphasize the imperfections of materials, highlighting their natural beauty while exploring various production techniques. The design process places significant focus on the textures and details, giving each piece a distinct, organic character. Buffa frequently uses leftover materials, adding a sustainable aspect to her work.

Some of the studio’s well-known collections include "Banded Iron", inspired by metal ores, and "Fossils", a series of sculptural furniture pieces that explore the textures of metal. Studio Kloumi’s work has been showcased in prestigious events such as Milan Design Week and Dutch Design Week, solidifying its reputation in the international design scene.
