Sofie Aaldering

Sofie Aaldering (1998) is a Dutch design textile artist based in Arnhem, The Netherlands. She graduated from the University of the Arts Utrecht with honors in 2021. ELLE Decoration featured Sofie on the frontcover as one of the artists to watch in 2024.

Transforming materials such as tulle and mesh are the basis of her designs. By exploring, changing and using them in unconventional ways Sofie creates art pieces that spark curiosity. Her three-dimensional work makes the viewer question the material and invites to take a closer look at the vibrant, sculptural work. All pieces are made by hand using a labor-intensive technique that is distinctive to Sofies designs. Her work is regularly exhibited in galleries worldwide. In 2023 she collaborated with Dior on a custom art piece.
