Simone Post
Simone Post
Simone Post (*1990, Utrecht, the Netherlands) is a Rotterdam-based multidisciplinary designer whose work has become a vital part of the Dutch design narrative. Known for her visionary approach, Post reimagines the future of design by transforming everyday materials into extraordinary objects. With a foundation in textiles and a deep passion for material experimentation, she explores the potential of discarded or ordinary items, pushing the limits of traditional design thinking. A 2015 honors graduate from the Design Academy Eindhoven, Post has quickly garnered attention for her bold use of color, texture, and print, creating vibrant, tactile works that challenge conventional perceptions of form and function in Dutch design.
Design as Discovery: A Post-Human Approach
Described as a "professional tinkerer," Post embraces a Post-Human design philosophy that transcends the ordinary. Her creative journey is driven by experimentation, where the process of discovery takes precedence over the finished product. This mindset has led to her transforming discarded materials into striking pieces that reflect both aesthetic ingenuity and a deep commitment to sustainability. From pleated ceramics to surreal, candy-like sculptures, her work breathes life into outcasts—materials overlooked or forgotten by society. Her designs envision a world where what’s discarded can become extraordinary.
Collaborations and Global Reach
Post has collaborated with leading global brands such as Hermès, Vlisco, Kvadrat, and Adidas, leveraging her textile roots to create designs that are both functional and visually arresting. Her work, which includes everything from reupholstered furniture to bold textiles, has been exhibited worldwide, including in Europe, the United States, Brazil, China, and India. Nominated for the Dutch Design Award in 2022, Simone Post continues to push the boundaries of contemporary design by turning everyday materials into bold, imaginative creations that defy expectations.
