Esther Hoogendijk

Overview

Esther Hoogendijk

Esther Hoogendijk (born 1987) is a Dutch artist living and working in Amsterdam. She graduated in 2009 from the AKI ArtEZ University of the Arts in Enschede and completed her master's degree at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. Hoogendijk's artistic practice is characterized by her unique exploration of transformation, time, and materiality. Her works evolve over time under the influence of environmental factors such as air displacement, evaporation, and decomposition, which contribute to their continuous change in shape, color, and texture.

Her work embodies the passage of time and the subtle interplay between human and natural influences. Often, her objects seem as though something significant has just happened, making time a central theme in her art. She works with diverse materials, creating objects that gradually change as part of a living, evolving process.
